My mom had an affinity towards shoes and purses - she had TONS of them. It brought her joy. For me, it’s dishes! I have so many that I need a new house to put them all in LOL. There is so much to love about dishes, bowls, plates, and platters! The color, the shape, the way they feel in your hands! If they are ceramic, I especially love the design and flow. I imagine the person who created it and can feel the love of their art embedded in their work. If they are wood, it’s the pattern of the grain - really it’s the story of the tree’s growth during its lifespan that brings me in and fascinates me. There is something intimate and profoundly beautiful about that, about ALL of it. I love molding my hands around a ceramic bowl of hot soup on a cold day. Call me crazy, but I send love to my dishes and I feel love back. It brings me joy. Using the right bowl, plate, or platter, really adds to the beauty of a meal. It can elevate the experience because it adds visual and energetic sustenance to your victuals. I also love that dishes can also be defined as prepared food. Of course, I LOVE those kinds of dishes too. What are your favorite dishes and why?
