It’s a big one. I want to help people make food a source of connection, inspiration, and gratitude. There is so much turmoil in the world, and it affects each of us. As an Empath, I keenly feel the discord of the world. I feel the need to do something to create some balance. So I’m using my insight to bring peace and healing through food. - I want to connect people to themselves and Source through food. That’s it. It may sound crazy, but my deepest desire is to share with everyone the magic and wisdom contained in all sources of food.
I consider myself a Spiritual Foodie, someone who joyfully seeks sustenance in all forms of good food. You know, the kind you eat and the other kinds like art, nature, music, scripture. Life can be delicious on so many levels. Would you like to join me in creating a community that seeks sustenance and joy from all forms of food? I would love for us to connect by creating a sacred space in your home and online to bring in more love and light to the world. Are you with me? Join and share my email list with your foodie friends who are hungry for sustenance that feeds body, mind, and spirit. If you know anyone in radio, tv, or media that would be interested in sharing the idea of being a Spiritual Foodie, please let me know! I look forward to hearing from you. Heart-felt thanks, Maile

I love salads, especially during these hot summer months. I recently created a wonderful recipe for a Greek Salad. As I was adding in all the ingredients, it hit me how Life is like a bowl of salad. The bowl represents the world and all the ingredients represent us, the diverse population who come with different colors, flavors, personalities and aromas.
The bed of lettuce represents the humanity we all share. Tomatoes are vibrant personalities, kalamata olives are the stronger temperaments, cucumbers are stabilizing personas, feta cheese is aged with wisdom and clarity. Italian parsley shares the importance that a little bit goes a long way in contributing to depth of flavor. Slivered purple onion cuts through to contrast and enhance all the ingredients. And the dressing? Vinegar, sugar, olive oil, black pepper - they first need to be blended together in order to bring all the tastes together in harmony. It’s truly an example of how we all can live together, despite our differences and be absolutely delicious. Here is the link for Mai’s Greek Salad: Mai's Greek Salad My mom died a year ago on May 25th. She was 12 days short of turning 99 years old. So it wasn’t unexpected that she would pass at some point. What was unexpected was the bottomless hole that has remained in my heart. The world is not the same without her.
Mom taught me how to cook. My Life Coach, Ley-Ann, suggested that I make cooking a time of reconnecting with my Mom to help fill the emptiness in my heart. I had been crying through most days while I cooked because I missed her so much. Now I bring her into my cooking by talking to her about what I’m making. I have two pictures of her in my kitchen and I imagine her sitting across the counter, like we are having a nice visit. Nothing will completely fill the void, but it helps. One way I keep her love alive is to make things she often did, like Beef Tomato. This is a simple dish but its comfort factor is off the charts. A lot has to do with the love mom put into it, and the rich blend of flavors and smooth simplicity is like being hugged from the inside. Here is my Mom’s recipe for Beef Tomato. May you feel hugged! When I go through difficult (sour) times, I remind myself that difficulties help me appreciate the good (sweet) times. I want to be able to experience Life like a nice bowl of sweet and sour pork. Why? Because I enjoy both flavors at the same time. I tend to get caught up and focus on the difficulties and don’t enjoy all the goodness that is also present. Put another way, I only taste the sour and don’t appreciate the sweet. I want to be better at enjoying both flavors of Life at the same time. What about you? I’m dealing with something sour right now. Focusing on the sour in Life lets fear take control, and that never tastes good! Even though I know this, it is still a challenge for me. Some of the ways I strive to enjoy the sour along with the sweet are represented in the acronym GATES
I hope this helps you. Here is the link for my sweet sour pork recipe to help you enjoy the journey of Life. Recipe: Sweet Sour Pork.pdf Video: Sweet Sour Pork |
