Up until recently, I was fooled by Brussel sprouts. Well, actually I fooled myself into thinking they were boring and blah. Boy, was I wrong! I had them once in college and they were soggy and bland. I didn’t realize that It’s all about the way they are prepared. I tried roasting them and discovered that the more petals I loosened from the sprout, the crispier bites of deliciousness I’d have to enjoy.
I posted my recipe for Brussel sprouts on YouTube, and it had a very dismal viewing. I’m thinking it’s because the majority of us think of Brussel sprouts the way I used to - boring and blah! I am disappointed in the small number of views, because I was so excited to share how delicious they can be! Once again, another common lesson in Life is taught through food: we often judge things and people by a one-time experience we had. By assuming that our one experience was the ONLY experience possible with that person or thing, we miss out! In my video, I use a line that I heard in a movie: You are everything I never knew I always wanted. This of course was said to a love interest, but it’s the perfect expression of how I feel about Brussel sprouts! I invite you to check out my video Crispy Brussel Sprouts with Balsamic Drizzle. It’s delightful and I got carried away eating all the crispy petals which made me laugh at myself and I think you will have a great laugh too! All I am saying is to give Brussel sprouts a chance! :-) Recipe: Crispy Brussel Sprouts with Balsamic Drizzle.pdf Video: Crispy Brussel Sprouts
