A Life Changing Ingredient

Food is about way more than filling your belly. It, and the preparation of it can be quite illuminating! I receive nourishing life-lessons frequently when I prepare my food.

For example, I threw together a salad with tofu, spinach and tomatoes.  I made a nice dressing to go with it. The second time I made it, I decided to add some quinoa to it, just because I had it in my fridge and wanted to use it up. When I looked up the benefits of quinoa, I was reminded that it is a “superfood” because it’s packed with protein, fiber, folate, and antioxidants.  Some studies even say it can help reduce the risk of cancer, wow!  Just one ingredient?

This naturally begged the question, what is one super ingredient that I can add to my daily life to exponentially bless it and make it better, and is it something I just happen to have? A lot of things came to mind - exercise, meditation, music, laughter, fun.  These are all great ingredients for life, and can all prove to be very powerful. The word that landed, though, is TRUST.  Oh!  This is a supercharged word. It’s big! It’s a commitment!  And because of all these things, this is my word that I am choosing to add to my daily living ingredients.  For me, trust implies a trust in God. Change that word to whatever one works for you - Universe, Spirit, Higher Self. Trust in a higher power.

So every time I start to worry about something, I will call up the ingredient of trust.  Everytime I express doubt, I’ll catch myself and sprinkle in some trust.  Is trust something I already have on hand, like the quinoa in my fridge? Hmm. I think we are each born with trust. Life’s hardships can chip away at it.  So at first, it will take practice. With time, my inherent trust will come to the surface again. It will be worth the invested time to bring it to the surface because it will exponentially bless and improve my life.

What one ingredient will it be for you?
